Belle Plagne – January & March
The plan for the coming season is to be based in the French resort of Belle Plagne with 225Km of slopes ranging up to over 3,000m in the magnificent La Plagne region. Accommodation in twin or double rooms, each with their own fully equipped bathroom, in a spacious Les Balcons chalet apartment, with direct access to the slopes, a very appealing spa pool, sauna and swimming pool. Full area lift pass for 6, 7 or even 8 days. Along with basic but good quality skis and boot hire – which can be upgraded for a reasonable supplement to snowboard equipment or more advanced skiing gear.
Val Cenis – February Half Term
This half-term we return to one of our favourite resorts Val Cenis. Strong favourite for half-term as it does not suffer from overcrowded slopes and offers a wide range of slopes in an unpretentious French alpine atmosphere with a lift pass covering other resorts – if you
wish to leave the already extensive area for the odd day.
Use of the large swimming pool is included here. We are staying in the Les Balcons complex
The train station at Modane is a short transfer away but
the drive out to Val Cenis is a delightful and unthreatening
journey almost to the end of the Maurienne valley, avoiding
most of the February road congestion – especially if travelling
overnight or out on Friday and back on Sunday.
Otherwise the usual airports are convenient along with
the possibility of flying to Turin and driving via the Frejus
The week at Easter is a little different, taking advantage of spring weather in the village of Venosc, whilst guaranteeing high level snow, a 10 minute telecabine ride above, in the international ski resort of Les Deux Alpes, with slopes, snow parks and off piste areas to suit every standard and interest.
Only an hour or so’s drive from Grenoble or Lyon, the accommodation is in 2 spacious traditional chalets, each with their own heated outdoor swimming pool and sauna, and with twin and double bedrooms with adjoining showers and toilets.
